Speaking of not learning my fucking lesson, the forty hours of community service we were assigned? We've served four hours of actual labor, but we have eighteen hours completed on paper. Six hours of that was sitting around, lunch breaks, waiting for people, being driven places, and the groundkseepers being nice enough to record a 6 1/2 hour day as an eight hour day on paper. We earned another eight this Saturday by showing up in the morning and the head honcho not having a copy for the office.

"We need a green sheet here," he said, "to record the hours to verify you actually did 'em. Otherwise it looks like you faked it." None of this next part registers with me, that's how early it is in the morning. "I'll give you credit for the day," he says, signing our papers, "but go get it dealt with."

"Okay," I say, "thanks for the advice," and we hover there until he says we're off the hook for the day.

Seriously, Universe, what did I do to get so lucky?
