Doctors these days recommend the "fake it til you make it" approach for depression. Go out, see friends, volunteer, exercise, do shit that happy people do and eventually you will start to feel happier. And they're right, kind of; I feel better. I don't think suicide is the answer anymore the way I used to. But the sadness never left completely either, and it creeps into the pauses of my life to whisper so quiet only I can hear, "that was a stupid fucking thing for you to say," or, "look how easy: you could just fling yourself out this window really quick".

Selfish shellfish.
