We squished together on top of the jungle gym while the golden hour disappeared. The jungle gym from my childhood, when nana used to volunteer in my kindergarten class, before we moved to the suburbs. The same one I stood on at five years old while we watched the fire climb down the hills across the street.

Husband asked me what I wanted to see again before leaving forever. That's how we ended up scootering across the black-top cracked with weeds.

I said, this is the life we built.

He said, it's a good life.
