I drove my father to the airport, rose before the sun and chased it across the bay. Funny, how we didn't talk except to comment on the traffic, or the assholes, or both, and in the background none should pass.

Inside of the terminal he hugged my goodbye, a last-ditch effort at fatherhood and he hesitated when kissing my head. My father, the only person I know taller than me, second guessing his efforts at affection. Clever anecdote or real life, you'd never know.
